When you register - for FREE - you receive an initial amount of 1,000,000 USD: you will then start investing this sum of money in stocks, in a major world index, in commodities, currencies and U.S. Treasury Bonds.
You will be able to always keep an eye on your investments by looking at your portfolio: when you want to, you can sell your holdings. Thank's to tradeOver you can also try a quite advanced trading strategy, short selling.
The goal of the game is to maximizie your portfolio value in order to reach a high position (possibly #1... ;-) in one of our five charts: the global one, and then the hourly, daily, weekly and monthly ones. The prize for each chart is a link to your Winner Page, a page that you create and where you can write whatever you feel like.
But let's see, in details, what are the main sections of tradeOver, our free stock market game:
- home: here you have an overall view of your whole situation on tradeOver: your portfolio (with a graph), you leagues, the charts, the latest winners, and a few news and articles;
- markets: choose where you want to buy (corporations, tech firms, world indexes, commodities, currencies, US bonds) and then invest your cash in the stock you chose. Here you can also choose to short sell (that is, "bet" that a price will go down);
- portfolio: keep an eye on your investments and check at a glance how well you are doing with our graph (by clicking on it you can see it bigger) - and you can also list all your past operations. Click on one of your holding to sell it and get your cash;
- the Bank: this is one of our "inventions": every 15 minutes or so we create an "index": that is, we take the 7 most bought stocks in that moment and we aggregate their value, thus creating this our "Bank Index". You can then invest in this index, just like you do for every other stock, index, commodity, etc.;
- charts: the goal of the game is to win - or at least do good... - in one of our charts. And when you win, the link to your Winner Page will be shown on the home page;
- leagues: with tradeOver you can create your own leagues, so that you can challenge your friends and have your very own place where you can talk and chat;
- community: we provide a few tools for our community: the listing of our users (online and complete), a forum, a chat room and a Yahoo! Group. Feel free to use any of them!
- news and articles: stay informed, our editors post new articles every day - and you can always read a selection of RSS feeds.
